Your charitable donation
helps feed, clothe, and shelter the least, the last and
the lost in our community. Your generous gifts provide rehabilitation,
refuge and a new hope that tomorrow will bring a brighter
day.
Who we serve
The Union Gospel Mission helps transform the lives of
men, women and children who are the poor and homeless
of our city. Our non-profit mission provides care to all
people regardless of their religious beliefs gender, race,
or ethnic background. We offer comfort without the need
for filling out forms or making explanations. Here, it
is just enough to need help. Our trained staff and caring
volunteers provide not only physical comfort, but also
spiritual comfort through shared prayer and the simple
act of listening.
Why we serve
The Union Gospel Mission is a Christian organization
dedicated to relieving the hunger and hopelessness of
all who seek refuge at our door. Our staff works to help
people find new beginnings, restore dignity to broken
lives, and provide hope. Our goal is to break the grip
of addiction, provide vocational training, and return
men as productive members of society through the teaching
of God’s word. Graduation ceremonies are hosted
by churches in the Sacramento community, showing their
support for men who have stayed the course and are expectantly
looking to a new life and a new beginning.
How we serve
Our programs range from short-term food and shelter to
providing long-term aid and counseling. Among our programs
are:
- A nine-month drug and alcohol rehabilitation program
for men with a sincere desire to escape the devastating
effects of alcohol and drugs. This in-house program provides
for every need and is free to every person. Men receive
counseling as they progress through a six month and three
month program that teaches new behaviors and life skills.
Upon graduation men are given opportunities to serve as
interns, enroll in college, receive vocational training,
and are housed for up to one year at no cost. Find

- The Union Gospel Mission provides a 1000-sq-ft women’s
clothes closet, offering clean and fashionable clothing
to women in need. This facility is staffed entirely by
caring volunteers and even has a hair salon where women
can have their hair cut and styled by professionals.

- Children’s clothing is also available as well
as books, school supplies and toys for children who might
otherwise have nothing.
- More than 40 churches serve as volunteers to the Union
Gospel Mission. These churches provide services nightly
360 days a year, and much needed encouragement and inspiration
to men and women from the streets of Sacramento. Our supporting
churches also provide nightly meals, where volunteers
can come and interact with others as they serve much needed
food to the hungry.
